At JP&Co, every product we choose carries a story—one that reflects not only global food trends but also our vision of bringing healthier, more unique ingredients to
the market.
Fava beans, also known as broad beans, became one of our first product choices for several important reasons. As a traditional staple across the Mediterranean, Middle
East, and South America, fava beans are deeply rooted in food culture, yet they remain relatively underrepresented in the Korean market.
We saw an opportunity to
bridge that gap.
Nutritionally, fava beans are packed with plant-based protein, dietary fiber, and essential micronutrients such as iron, magnesium, and folate. They are also a natural
source of L-dopa, a compound studied for its potential benefits in supporting brain health. These qualities make fava beans not only a versatile cooking ingredient but
also a functional food with genuine health value.
Another reason we chose fava beans is their adaptability.
From being enjoyed fresh in salads to processed forms like puree, snacks, or even as a protein-rich flour, they
fit perfectly into both traditional and modern food applications. Their mild, earthy flavor also makes them approachable for a wide range of consumers.
For us, fava beans represent more than just another imported product—they embody the balance of nutrition, tradition, and innovation. By introducing fava beans to our
portfolio, we aimed to bring an ingredient with a long history and strong nutritional profile into everyday use for new markets.
